Making Acceptance Easy
I found that people cope better if they know beforehand what to expect.
So before my husband came out to a large social group of friends of ours, I went round to the friends and told them. Maybe my motives were also to help me over a challenging situation and to give myself a role of importance in it, I don't know. But it certainly worked. Everyone was very kind, shocked but prepared to do their best to accept.
The Beaumont Society's social gatherings have been a huge help. Isolation is certainly NOT a good idea. There are lots of cross-dressers out there. Mostly they are really nice folk and easy to get on with.
